Evaluation of Fusion Methods: Pan-Sharpening Methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
Image fusion in the field of remote sensing deals with combination of multispectral and panchromatic image. The idea of such combination is to derive best information out of it. A multispectral image is spectral rich whereas a panchromatic image is spatially sound so their combination gives better information in terms of best spatial and spectral parameters. This Paper aims at evaluating various fusion methods available so far and helps to analyze the comparisons between them. To determine the best approach it must have high computational efficiency, preserve the high spatial resolution and minimize the color distortion.

Spatial Quality Assessment of Pan-Sharpened High Resolution Satellite Imagery Based on an Automatically Estimated Edge Based Metric
Most of the existing pan-sharpening quality assessment methods consider only the spectral quality and there are just few investigations, which concentrate on spatial characteristics. Spatial quality of pan-sharpened images is vital in elaborating the capability of object extraction, identification, or reconstruction, especially regarding man-made objects and their application for large scale ma...
متن کاملA Novel Pan-Sharpening Framework Based on Matting Model and Multiscale Transform
Pan-sharpening aims to sharpen a low spatial resolution multispectral (MS) image by combining the spatial detail information extracted from a panchromatic (PAN) image. An effective pan-sharpening method should produce a high spatial resolution MS image while preserving more spectral information. Unlike traditional intensity-hue-saturation (IHS)and principal component analysis (PCA)-based multis...
متن کاملAnalyzing Multi-sensor Data Fusion Techniques: a Multi-temporal Change Detection Approach
An inevitable tradeoff between spectral and spatial resolution exists in remote sensing systems and it is essential to integrate information from systems with complementary characteristics to improve data interpretability. Panchromatic (PAN) sharpening is a data fusion technique that merges a high spatial resolution PAN image with lower spatial resolution multispectral images. The resulting mer...
متن کاملVariational Wavelet Pan-Sharpening
Pan-sharpening is the process of fusing a low resolution multispectral image with a high resolution panchromatic image to obtain a high resolution multispectral image. We propose a new pan-sharpening method called Variational Wavelet Pan-sharpening (VWP) that combines wavelet fusion and the edges of the panchromatic image as an energy minimization problem. Furthermore, we introduce additional e...

Melissa Strait, Sheida Rahmani, Daria Markurjev Faculty Advisor: Todd Wittman UCLA Department of Mathematics August 2008 Abstract Pan-sharpening combines a low-resolution color multispectral image with a high-resolution grayscale panchromatic image to create a high-resolution fused color image. In this paper we examine five different pan-sharpening methods: IHS, PCA, Wavelet fusion, P+XS, and V...

Pan-sharpening is also known as image fusion, resolution merge, image integration, and multi sensor data fusion has been widely applied to imaging sensors. The purpose of pan-sharpening is to fuse a low spatial resolution multispectral image with a higher resolution panchromatic image to produces an image with higher spectral and spatial resolution. In this paper, we investigated these existing...
